Spread over two levels in the heart of Sydney, Cobbleworks’ recently fitted out offices are a penchant for light, tactility and materiality. Located in an industrial style building, the interiors feature a mixture of original and contemporary style finishes, creating the perfect juxtaposition of architecture and furniture.
Designed to elevate the furniture in the space, black accents mixed with natural stone like finishes are seen on our Keywork counter table, paired with Zorro stools welcoming you upon entry.
Cohesive in theme, the first office space features the same colourways as seen on our Uno table in the kitchen area, surrounded by Madi chairs. Additionally, in a little nook next to this our Halo counter table with Zorro stools tie in to create a comfortable breakout area for staff.
Similar in finishes but different in layout, the second office includes Uno counter tables on castors with Zorro stools allowing them to be moved around to facilitate a variety of settings from collaboration to relaxation.
With a focus on the evolving nature of the way we work and the relationship between the user and their environment in an open plan office, Cobbleworks office provides highly flexible and versatile solutions. Moving throughout this space, our Hugo lounges and Sofi hexagon ottomans in a trendy mustard upholstery come together to form soft seating areas. Our Sofi ottomans are mobile in design, allowing for staff to move and create their own work areas based on their needs and requirements.
Arched windows frame the building allowing natural light to flood the rooms. Situated underneath these are a variety of seating and coffee table settings, including our Madi chairs paired with the Maya coffee table, Jena chairs paired with the Drum coffee table and Sofi ottomans coupled with the Oscar coffee table, allowing staff and visitors to interact in a casual environment.
For more focused individual work, the offices feature a mixture of desks with black accents and florentine walnut tops including Benchwork and Swish workstations. Matched with Local acoustic screens, Sparki above desk power, Miro chairs, Balance stools, Globe pedestals and Globe sliding door cupboards for storage, a workspace which enhances productivity, dynamism and employee well being is established.
The meeting rooms do not stray from the theme used throughout the open plan office. Contrasted against exposed brick and natural timber flooring, our Dart table and Alex chairs combine to create a contemporary environment, perfect for more formal settings. For more informal and collaborative purposes, smaller meeting rooms feature our Halo table and Madi chairs.
Cobbleworks’ offices consider the different working environments for the modern employee. Providing various settings that focus on connection, collaboration and comfort by the curation of furniture, finishes and aesthetic.

Back To Work - Solutions for a Safe, Healthy and Productive Workplace
As we adapt to the new model of working, office design will be largely influenced by social distancing practices. Adhering to governmental and global health guidelines means current setups in the workplace may need to be reconfigured or new elements added, creating longer-term solutions for enhanced safety.
Through the evolving context of how we interact and the relationship to our workplace, our solutions are holistic and consider not only furniture, but also space, materials and wellbeing. Creating private, individual areas through visible defenses such as protective screens, partitions and furniture with highly cleanable properties, we are able to facilitate a safe and healthy environment for staff.
We’ve curated a collection of highly adaptable products with a focus on screens and partitions to help create spaces that are safe for people to interact comfortably and embrace new ways of working.
Know your surroundings, from Finishes to Fabrics.
Research is still ongoing as to how long viruses can live on various surfaces, with studies showing not all materials offer a lasting home for viruses. As we become more aware of the materials we use and touch on a daily basis, we begin to think about not only the aesthetic but the performance and cleanability. This is especially important on high contact surfaces within the workplace which includes desktops, tables, benches, seating and storage.
With more and more manufacturers integrating antimicrobial technology inside their products, it can be easy to alter your current space to introduce such materials with this property for preventive measures. An antimicrobial finish is a chemical treatment applied to the material to inhibit the growth of micro-organisms, including bacteria, mold, and mildew. Although it does not kill viruses, it acts as a second layer of defense.
Here we explore materials and coatings that reduce surface transmission of bacteria and viruses, from finishes to fabrics.
Finishes
Studies have shown that the best practice is to regularly clean all surfaces with appropriate cleaning solutions and wash hands thoroughly, however some materials options have added properties worth considering.
Laminex - Absolute Matte
Our premium Laminex Absolute Matte features natural silver ion antibacterial protection. Silver is a well-documented antimicrobial that has been shown to kill bacteria, fungi and certain viruses. The antimicrobial properties of AbsoluteMatte make it a hygienic choice for high traffic or higher risk areas such as offices, medical/aged care facilities, food preparation/service areas, communal spaces such as sports centres/libraries and education projects.
Available in black or white, this material can be used on desktops, tables, storage and screens.
Porcelain and Terrazzo
Our new porcelain and terrazzo tops offer similar properties to Absolute Matte and are a great option for high traffic environments such as hospitality, lunch and break out areas. The composition of terrazzo and porcelain are impermeable to dirt and liquid, due to its lack of grouts and joints. Both surfaces are easy to clean with any alcohol based disinfectant, adding to its anti-mildew and antibacterial properties.
Fabrics:
Depending on the environment, proper material selection is essential. With the ever growing consciousness about textiles and their preventative properties or maintenance, we focus on smooth, impermeable surfaces and easy to clean fabrics.
When searching for materials for seating or screens, properties to consider include non-absorbent, durable, scrubbable surfaces and antimicrobial fabrics.
Vinyl
Vinyl, as opposed to fabric, has the benefit of being moisture resistant and waterproof; therefore it is easily wipeable, cleanable and can be disinfected making it an ideal material for healthcare, hospitality, education and offices. Some vinyls are also treated with antimicrobial or antibacterial properties.
Crypton
The current composition of Crypton has been perfected over the years and includes water-based antimicrobial and fluorochemical agents that fight bacteria and create a water and stain resistant surface.
The chemicals used in the manufacturing process will prevent bacteria from spreading. This is just one reason why it is a popular choice in offices, hospitals and other areas that experience a large amount of traffic.
In addition to the above, fabric suppliers have also developed fabric treatments which can be applied to any textile. It works as a seal, applied throughout the fibres to exhibit antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Improving Patients' Waiting Time through Furniture at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse
We were recently involved in the refurbishment of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse waiting rooms in Sydney. The project called “Waiting for Change” aimed at improving how cancer patients wait. From waiting for their diagnosis, to waiting for tests, treatment, results and many other reasons, patients spend a lot of time waiting.
The project involved supplying patients with comfortable and practical spaces, giving the waiting rooms a more homely feel by adding some greenery and separating the seating arrangement to give patients their own space to rest or work in, as well as updating the furniture.
We are very pleased that we could be a small part of this worthwhile project and could help make patient’s waiting experience a little more comfortable.
