The Next Generation of Design: ADR 30UNDER30’s Dinners

April 21, 2026

At Krost, we believe the future of the Australian design landscape isn’t just about the spaces we build, but the people who imagine them. As a major sponsor of Australian Design Review’s 30UNDER30 program, we recently joined the Sydney and Melbourne cohorts for two intimate dinners that set the beginning of a long-term dialogue.

These evenings were more than just a formal introduction, they were a chance to witness the "next generation of design" breaking the ice and forming the connections that will shape our industry for decades to come.

Sydney: Art Deco Inspiration at Clocktower Bar

The Sydney contingent met at the Clocktower Bar within the iconic Shell House. Set against an art-deco-inspired interior, the evening hummed with the vibrancy of the city’s design community. Here, the finalists were joined by industry stalwarts, creating a bridge between established experience and new-era creativity.

Melbourne: A Warm Welcome at Cutler & Co.

In Melbourne, the cohort gathered within the private, heritage-inflected dining room of Cutler & Co.. The atmosphere was one of quiet sophistication, providing a focused backdrop that allowed the room to settle into meaningful conversation to break the ice before our upcoming creativity retreat in Bali. Witnessing such incredible passion and creativity in one room makes us even prouder to be a partner of a program that empowers the next generation of design talent to thrive and innovate.

Supporting the Next Generation

Our sponsorship for 30UNDER30 reflects Krost’s ongoing commitment to local talent and design excellence. We understand that the modern workplace is evolving, and it is these "creators and thinkers" who will design the adaptive environments of the future.

As we look toward the 2026 collection and beyond, we remain dedicated to providing the furniture solutions that support these emerging professionals in their journey to redefine the built world.

The Dojo series also evolves, featuring a concealed steel base and an ultra-quiet motor for a seamless, silent height transition. Sculptural form is further explored through the Bloc table’s curved joinery base and the Leelo series, which pairs a playful tubular frame with a premium matte touch. Grounding the collection in local sustainability, the Eko range turns 100% recycled Australian HDPE into a functional work of art, with melted materials creating a unique, one-of-a-kind terrazzo pattern on every top.

Architectural Joinery: Seamless Organisation

We have reimagined storage through the award-winning Vada Wall Panelling, an innovative wall solution featuring a smart magnetic and dowel system for effortless installation, it creates a bespoke, built-in aesthetic that adapts to various professional setting. Our range also further extend to the new Casing Units, a premium curved addition for all workstations that elevate the environment in a fluid, high-end profile while maintaining a clean and cohesive floor plan.

Acoustic Solutions: The Zora Screen and Breakaway Zone offer soft visual and acoustic boundaries through radius corners and premium fabric finishes. These solutions are designed to create sanctuaries of focus within the open plan, balancing privacy with a refined, cohesive aesthetic.

Refined Accessories

Krost Under Desk Power with Cable Tray

The collection is completed by intentional tools like the Under Desk Power with Sparki Cable Tray, which integrates power and charging into a discreet, telescopic system. What is really driving the back-to-office shift in 2026?

February 15, 2026

In 2026, workplaces are being designed around why people come in, not how often, prioritising collaboration, focus, and connection beyond what remote work cannot offer.

The great return: A shift toward purpose-driven office time

Workplace research shows people are more engaged when office time is intentional. According to AHRI (2025), 75% of Australian workers say being in the office encourages stronger connection with colleagues, while 65% believe it improves collaboration and cooperation.

Rather than using the office for individual desk-based work, teams are prioritising in-person time for shared activity. This shift is changing how workplaces are planned, with greater emphasis on spaces that support interaction, movement and collective work rather than fixed, individual workpoints.

How this shift is reshaping office layouts:

  • Desks become a support function, not the centrepiece. Individual workpoints still exist, but they no longer shape the workplace. Space is rebalanced around how people actually use the office.

  • Collaboration is planned, not incidental. Shared zones are positioned and scaled to support workshops, teamwork and project activity rather than relying on leftover meeting space.

  • Layouts are designed to adapt. Modular planning and flexible furniture allow workplaces to evolve as teams, headcount and work styles change over time.

Rethinking the workplace experience

Offices are increasingly adopting hospitality-led design, shifting away from rigid corporate environments to open-plan spaces that feel more welcoming and comfortable. Thoughtful seating, informal meeting zones and cafe-style spaces encourage people to spend time in the workplace, supporting connection and productivity without compromising professionalism.

In practice, this translates into:

  • Ergonomic lounge settings designed for extended working sessions, not transitional use

  • Breakout areas positioned as active work zones rather than peripheral spaces

  • Open-plan floors layered with varied settings, allowing teams to move between collaboration and focused work with ease.

Supporting focus in an AI-enabled workplace

As AI tools become part of everyday work, employees need spaces that support concentration and reduce cognitive load. Quiet areas are no longer a luxury. They are becoming essential for productivity and wellbeing.

Research from ACTU (2025) shows 51% of Australian workers say they need more skills and training as technology and AI change how they work. The workplace environment must support this transition by offering spaces that allow people to focus, learn and adapt.

Effective workplaces now require:

  • Small, quiet zones for focused work

  • Acoustic separation between social and task-based areas

  • Clear zoning that helps people choose how they work

Sustainability is now a baseline expectation

Sustainability and ESG goals are no longer optional. Businesses are prioritising low-carbon fit-outs and responsibly sourced furniture. Locally manufactured products help reduce transport emissions, improve quality control and support long-term value.

Designing workplaces that perform

At Krost, we work closely with our clients to respond to these shifts in a practical way. Our range of office furniture, supported by local manufacturing, allows us to tailor solutions to the specific needs of each project, supporting flexibility, sustainability and the performance of both the workplace and the people within it.

Raising a Cup for a Cause – Krost’s 2025 Biggest Morning Tea

June 16, 2025

This year, we hosted our 9th annual Biggest Morning Tea in support of Cancer Council, bringing our teams together for a meaningful cause that continues to matter deeply to all of us.

Our showroom was buzzing with activity as tables filled with homemade treats, steaming tea, and plenty of team spirit. From trivia rounds, dry pong, to a fun game of “Guess the teapot count,” friendly competition added to the lively atmosphere and kept the energy high.

Thanks to the generosity of our teams, we continued to raise over $1,400 this year, funds that will go directly towards cancer research, prevention initiatives, and support services.

We’re proud to keep this tradition going and grateful to everyone who contributed. It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of community and the difference we can make together.
