We recently had the privilege to host the IDEA Gold medal panel discussion on ‘Designing for Workplace Wellness’ in partnership with Australian Design Review (ADR). Our incredible panellists included Rob Backhouse, IDEA Gold medal winner and chair of Hassell, Sue Fenton, Woods Bagot senior associate and IDEA jury member, Emily Carter, 30UNDER30 alumni and PTID senior interior designer, and our very own design manager, Carly Krost.
Hosted in our West Melbourne showroom, the event gathered guests from the Architecture and Design community all interested in hearing our panellists’ experts thoughts on the topic.
Moderated by ADR’s editorial director, Emily Rayner, the discussion included various aspects of workplace design and its impact on employees' well-being. The panellists recognised that the traditional approach of simply building offices and expecting people to come to work no longer works. Instead, they emphasised the importance of incorporating elements of wellness into the workspace to foster a positive work culture.
They stressed the importance of understanding individual needs and taking a customised approach. There is no longer a one size fits all solution for workplace design. They emphasized the significance of listening and understanding the specific needs of individuals in the workspace. Designers should consider factors like accessibility, mental well-being, neurodiversity, lifestyle and sensory elements when creating office environments.
Following the talk, guests were invited to a beautiful Italian themed dinner including a pasta station served out of an impressive cheese wheel.
Our team then guided them around our 2600m2 showroom where they could view and feel our entire collection of products on display.
We’d like to thank our panellists for sharing their time and thoughts with us, our partner Australian Design Review for helping us put together such an incredible event, our team, and of course our wonderful guests for joining us in a fun and insightful evening.
