Beyond Aesthetics: How Organic Design Influences Modern Workspace

May 6, 2024

Organic design draws inspiration from the natural world with flowing lines, natural materials, and shapes that cultivate a sense of well-being, calming and functional workspaces.

At Krost, we understand this design philosophy goes beyond aesthetics. It influences how individuals interact with their surroundings by fostering more creative and harmonious spaces.

Unlike rigid, linear arrangements, organic layouts create a collaborative flow that encourages people to move more freely and engage with their environment and colleagues.

Through our innovative approach, we integrate organic principles into our products by incorporating sustainably sourced materials, soft curves, and fluid lines that echo the forms of nature. Organic forms, often mimicking the fluid, asymmetrical patterns found in nature, have a profound impact on psychological comfort and stress reduction across the workplace.

By bringing the natural outdoor elements into indoor office designs, every piece of our collection is crafted to create spaces that feel alive, connected, and inherently comforting, where ideas flourish and people thrive.

Embracing organic design is about inspiring change. We are committed to redefining workspaces that not only function efficiently but also enhance the human experience within them.

5 Tips towards Building a Positive Corporate Culture

February 20, 2018

Companies with positive cultures reap the rewards of efficiency, employee wellbeing and happiness. Building a great culture takes time and isn’t always easy but here are a few tips to help you on your journey.

Establish goals and direction – For culture to thrive, it’s important that everyone, including management are on the same page. Clear expectations of the company’s goals, values and direction should be communicated and employees should be motivated to stay true to these values.

Encourage friendship – Relationships in the office are proven to support engagement and employee happiness. Studies have shown that people who’ve formed close relationships at work are 7 times more likely to be engaged in their job than those that didn’t. Encouraging teamwork, hosting social events, celebrating birthdays and providing casual breakout spaces for staff to bond are key.

Create the right environment – Ergonomic chairs, practical desking and comfortable breakout furniture provide the foundations for staff to work efficiently and happily. The layout of your furniture can also play an important role in company culture, ensuring that teams that often work together are placed together so that they can collaborate easily.

Embrace Autonomy - Empower your staff and trust them to manage their responsibilities effectively. Allowing staff to have the ability to decision make, take initiative and be accountable for their work can be incredibly rewarding and great leap towards a positive culture.

Recognise valuable contributions – Openly sharing the successes of your company and its employees can provide a great motivation boost for the team. Recognising and rewarding people for their valuable contributions has powerful effects on workplace culture and also has a positive impact on staff turnover.

CALCULATE HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL FIT AT YOUR MEETING TABLE

November 9, 2017

Need a simple way to calculate how many people can fit at different sized meeting tables?  Here is a suggested guide:

3600W x 1200D 12-14 people
3000W x 1200D 10-12 people
2400W x 1200D 8-10 people
2100W x 1200D 6-8 people

How did we work this out? First we calculated the perimeter of the table. As a general rule, each person should have a minimum of 600mm space. A minimum of 600mm space each is necessary to have enough arm and leg room and to allow ease of movement to and from the table. Of course, in some scenarios more space is required, for a executive boardroom setting we suggest increasing the space to 800mm.

So lets break it down, If we take a 3000mm wide by 1200mm deep meeting table for instance, it has a perimeter of 8400mm, so depending on the purpose of the table, we could potentially seat up to 14 people. 3000mm x 1200mm is more commonly used as an executive boardroom table though so we would recommend between 10 or 12 seats. Another example is a 1500mm diameter table, which has a perimeter of approximately 4710mm. We would recommend a maximum of 7 people for this size table.

Choosing a more compact chair maximises each person’s space. Chairs such as the Miro S, Sax, Baz and Zed are just a few of our compact chairs which allow more space for each user. Informal meeting tables can also be paired with chairs such as Zorro, Inc, or Spyder to save even more space.
