5 Rules to Dress By

April 11, 2018

Office dress codes create a distinctive visual which can help to build a good corporate image and identity. The importance of business attire for professionalism differs depending on the industry.

Points to consider when establishing your dress code:

  1. Define your sector: Employees dress will be one of the first things a client or customer notices when interacting with staff. Using the nature of your business as a guide to set fashion standards, determines a dress attire that is appropriate.

  2. Public/Private Contact: If staff interact with clients in and out of the office, specific standards should be implemented for a professional dress code. Employees are the face of the company and their clothing is a reflection of its goals and values. A dress code assists in creating lasting impressions and builds a solid reputation for you and your company.

  3. Professional Image: Clothing can be used as a tool for business development by expressing a professional image. Dress codes are a great way to stand out against competitors and maintain a standard of dress that creates a positive impression.

  4. Employee Mood & Focus: A dress code has proven to positively impact employees working mood and focus. A trend toward business-casual wear can boost morale and increase creativity by allowing workers to feel comfortable and happy. Some companies have introduced casual Fridays as a great way to end the week.

  5. Strengthen Unity: A company dress code promotes unity and fosters a cohesive team. By following the same set of rules, staff gain a sense of ownership and feel part of a whole.
